How do I book a session?
Booking is easy! Simply fill out my Contact Form, and I'll be in touch to discuss your vision, choose the perfect location, and find a date that works for you. Once your session is confirmed, you'll receive a contract and invoice to secure your booking.
Where are you located?
I'm based in the Charleston, South Carolina area and photograph sessions throughout Charleston, Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, Summerville, Daniel Island, Kiawah, Folly Beach, and surrounding Lowcountry locations.
How long does a session last?
Most portrait sessions last between 30–60 minutes, allowing plenty of time for natural moments, a variety of poses, and different backgrounds.
How many photos will I receive?
Each gallery includes a carefully curated collection of professionally edited, high-resolution images. The exact number varies depending on the session, but most clients receive 20–40 edited images.
When will I receive my gallery?
Your online gallery is typically delivered within 4–7 days after your session. During busy seasons, turnaround times may be slightly longer, but I'll always keep you informed.
What should we wear?
Neutral colors, soft earth tones, and coordinating outfits photograph beautifully. I recommend avoiding large logos, busy patterns, and neon colors. If you're unsure what to wear, I'm happy to help with outfit suggestions.
Can you help us choose a location?
Absolutely! One of my favorite parts of planning your session is helping you find the perfect setting. Whether you're looking for beaches, parks, historic streets, marsh views, or quiet nature spots around Charleston, I'll recommend locations that match your style.
What time do you recommend for photos?
The best lighting is typically during golden hour, about an hour after sunrise or before sunset. This soft, warm light creates the timeless, natural look you'll see throughout my portfolio.
What happens if it rains?
Weather happens! If rain or unsafe conditions are expected, we'll simply reschedule your session at no additional charge.
What if my children don't cooperate?
Don't worry—that's completely normal! I create a relaxed, fun environment and encourage genuine interaction rather than forcing perfect poses. Some of the best photographs come from real laughs, cuddles, and playful moments.
Can we bring our dog?
Yes! Pets are welcome at pet-friendly locations and can make your session even more meaningful. Just let me know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.
Do you photograph weddings and events?
Yes! In addition to portraits, I also photograph intimate weddings, engagements, events, sports, and branding sessions. If you're looking for something unique, I'd love to hear about it.
Do you travel?
Yes! I happily travel throughout the Charleston area and surrounding communities. Travel beyond my standard service area may include a travel fee.
Can I print my photos anywhere?
Yes! Your gallery includes high-resolution images with a personal print release, allowing you to print your photos wherever you'd like. For the highest quality and color accuracy, I also recommend ordering directly through your online gallery.
Do you provide the unedited (RAW) images?
No. RAW images are not included, as editing is an important part of my creative process and reflects the final quality and style of Michelle Leigh Photography.
How far in advance should I book?
I recommend booking 3–6 weeks in advance, especially during spring and fall when availability fills quickly. Holiday and seasonal mini sessions often book even earlier.
