Let's Make Your Session Relaxed, Fun, and Stress-Free
I'm so excited to photograph you! Whether it's your first professional session or your tenth, my goal is to create a fun, relaxed experience that captures genuine moments and beautiful memories. Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your session.
Choose Outfits You Feel Great In
The best outfit is one that makes you feel confident and comfortable.
A few recommendations:
Choose coordinating colors instead of matching everyone exactly.
Soft neutrals, earth tones, and muted colors photograph beautifully.
Avoid large logos, neon colors, and busy patterns that can distract from your faces.
Add texture with sweaters, linen, denim, or layers for extra visual interest.
Wear comfortable shoes if we'll be walking to your location.
If you're unsure what to wear, I'm always happy to help you plan outfits!
Trust the Light
Lighting is everything in photography, which is why most sessions are scheduled during Golden Hour—the hour after sunrise or before sunset.
This beautiful, soft light creates the warm, timeless look you see throughout my portfolio. While midday sessions are sometimes possible, golden hour almost always provides the most flattering results.
Arrive a Few Minutes Early
Plan to arrive about 10–15 minutes before your session so everyone has time to settle in without feeling rushed.
A relaxed start helps create relaxed photos.
Don't Stress About the Kids
Some of the most meaningful photographs happen in between the posed moments.
Children don't need to sit perfectly still or smile at the camera the entire time. I encourage play, movement, hugs, laughter, and genuine interaction. Those authentic moments often become your favorite images.
A few helpful tips:
Make sure little ones have a snack before arriving.
Bring water, especially during warmer months.
Pack a favorite small toy or comfort item if needed.
Avoid telling children they have to smile—I'll help bring out natural expressions.
Bring Only the Essentials
Less is usually more.
Bring only what you'll truly need:
Water
Hairbrush or comb
Lipstick or lip balm for touch-ups
Small towel during warmer months
Baby wipes if little ones are joining us
Keeping personal items to a minimum allows us to move easily throughout the session.
Relax and Enjoy the Experience
You don't need to know how to pose—that's my job!
I'll guide you every step of the way with natural prompts and simple direction, so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands or where to look.
The best photos happen when you're focused on the people you love, not the camera.
Embrace the Unexpected
Wind, playful children, sandy feet, spontaneous laughter, and genuine emotions often create the most memorable images.
Some of my favorite photographs weren't planned—they simply happened.
Weather Happens
Charleston weather can change quickly. If rain or unsafe conditions are expected, we'll simply reschedule your session at no additional charge.
Cloudy skies are often wonderful for photography, so don't worry if the forecast isn't perfectly sunny.
After Your Session
Once your session is complete:
I'll carefully hand-edit each image in my signature style.
Your online gallery will be delivered within 4–7 days.
You'll be able to download your high-resolution images.
You can easily order professional-quality prints and wall art directly from your gallery.
Most Importantly...
Forget about being "perfect."
Laugh a little louder.
Hold hands a little longer.
Cuddle your babies.
Dance, explore, and enjoy the moment.
Those are the memories you'll treasure for years to come, and those are the moments I love to capture.
I can't wait to tell your story.
